Bewdley Medical Centre is seeking to recruit an Advanced Nurse Practitioner for a full-time position, working 37 hours per week. Trainees and clinicians looking to begin ACP training would also be considered. Part Time, Job Share or flexible working practices would be considered.

Bewdley Medical Centre has an experienced team of six GP Partners and six Salaried GPs along with a team of other healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate should be an experienced nurse capable of operating within their professional boundaries to deliver comprehensive care for patients attending the practice. This includes tasks such as initial history taking, clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and care evaluation. The role demands safe and informed clinical decision-making, along with expert care that encompasses both in-house consultations and home visits. The candidate should demonstrate advanced clinical decision-making and diagnostic skills suitable for general practice.

The candidate must be a registered independent prescriber with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Applicants who are Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) or Paramedics will also be considered, provided they have the First Contact Practitioner (FCP) qualification and are qualified prescribers. Main duties of the job:

  • Work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
  • As part of the Wyre Forest Health Partnership, the role will be based at Bewdley Medical Centre, with the opportunity to work at other WFHP sites by agreement.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis.
  • Treat patients wishing to see a health care professional making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team.
  • Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence and to acknowledge limitations.
  • Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded.
  • Prescribe safe, effective and appropriate medication as defined by current legislative framework and considering the Worcestershire prescribing formula guidelines.
  • To liaise with a doctor regarding patients with complex problems who need the expertise of a general practitioner.

Person Specification:

Personal Competencies:

  • Essential: Self-directed practitioner, Highly motivated, Flexibility, Enthusiasm, Team player, Ability to work across boundaries.
  • Desirable: Basic IT Skills.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Professional NMC Registration, Independent prescribing qualification (or working towards), Advanced clinical Practitioner qualification (or working towards), Experience in working as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of the EMIS Web clinical system but not crucial as training will be given, Full UK Driving Licence.

Experience:

  • Essential: Excellent communication skills, Displays self-confidence and self-awareness especially in dealing with staff and patients, Ability to articulate the rationale for decisions, Clinical examination skills.
  • Desirable: Experience in general practice.
