We currently have a great opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join our Care Plus team at The Sandford Nursing Home on a permanent basis. We’re looking for a caring, dedicated professional to bring our values to life and ensure our customers receive outstanding services. The Sandford Nursing Home, Church Stretton, Shropshire is a place our residents call home. It's a happy, welcoming atmosphere set amongst the Shropshire hills with luxurious accommodation and expert, nursing-led care.
The Role
- To assist with the preparation of meals and snacks for residents within guidelines laid down by the Home manager and cook.
- To ensure the service delivered promotes the independence, dignity, rights and choices of the people that we work with.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out general dining room duties i.e. laying and clearing tables.
- Transport meals to dining room and other eating locations as required.
- Washing up all items used in the kitchen area.
- Maintaining cooking and storage areas in a clean and tidy state in line with cleaning schedules.
- Simple preparation of food as required by the cook.
Skills and experience required
- The ability to work within a team and independently.
- Food safety level one or willingness to undertake training.
- Previous experience of working with older people.
- Excellent verbal, written and face-to-face communication skills.
- Caring attitude with desire to help and support others.
- Care home experience is advantageous but not essential.
Due to the nature of this post, the role is subject to an Enhanced with Adult Barred DBS disclosure.
