We are recruiting an Assistant Merchandiser to join a fast-paced retail merchandising team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Assistant Merchandiser with strong analytical retail skills to support category performance, trading decisions, and range delivery.
As an Assistant Merchandiser, you will work closely with Merchandisers and Buyers to ensure products are launched on time, trading performance is clearly reported, and stock, sales, and margin decisions are data-led. This role is ideal for an Assistant Merchandiser looking to build a long-term career in merchandising, trading, and retail analytics.
As an Assistant Merchandiser, your focus will be on merchandising analysis, trading support, and operational execution across retail and online channels. You will play a key role in ensuring ranges trade effectively through strong numerical insight and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting merchandising and trading decisions through detailed sales, stock, and margin analysis
- Maintaining accurate estimates, forecasts, and range data within retail systems
- Managing web readiness, pricing accuracy, sizing, and product setup
- Producing weekly trading, launch, and performance reports to support commercial decisions
- Supporting seasonal peaks, promotions, sale activity, and space changes
- Monitoring critical paths, identifying risks, and supporting on-time delivery
- Supporting range planning through lessons learnt, historical analysis, and sign-off packs
- Working closely with Buying, Planning, Retail, E-commerce, and Supply Chain teams
- Supporting supplier forecasting and production planning with accurate data
Skills and Knowledge
We are looking for an Assistant Merchandiser with a strong merchandising and analytical retail background who enjoys working with data to influence trading performance. You will ideally have:
- Experience as an Assistant Merchandiser or a strong analytical retail/merchandising background
- Excellent numerical skills with strong attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with retail systems and reports
- Experience analysing sales, stock, availability, and margin performance
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Commercial awareness and understanding of how decisions impact profit and stock
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style
- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in merchandising
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is advantageous.
