We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Farnborough, who are looking to appoint a Senior Bookkeeper / Practice Bookkeeper to join their growing team.
The Role
As a bookkeeper, you will manage your own client portfolio, typically ranging from 6 to 20 clients depending on complexity. You will be trusted to work independently, manage deadlines, and take ownership of your workload.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full bookkeeping for a portfolio of practice clients
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Payroll processing and associated submissions
- CIS returns and reporting
- Liaising directly with clients and building long-term relationships
- Using cloud-based accounting systems to deliver efficient, accurate work
This is a varied and engaging role within a digital practice where no two days are the same.
Essential Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills
- AAT Level 4 qualified or currently working towards Level 4
- 2-5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice (essential)
- Proven ability to manage your own workload and client deadlines
- Experience working independently and using your own initiative
- Strong bookkeeping knowledge across VAT, payroll and CIS
- Proficiency in Xero (essential)
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks would be useful
- Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
- Comfortable using digital accounting tools and new technology
- Organised, proactive and self-motivated
- Confident managing client relationships
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Keen to continue learning and developing professionally
