Assistant Merchandiser Portsmouth £27-30K plus benefits Hybrid working 9 month contract The Assistant Merchandiser will assist with planning and managing the department sales, stock, and markdowns to maximise sales and achieve margin, and achieve terminal stock targets. The Junior Merchandiser will have previous experience in a similar Merchandiser role managing a category or small area alone. Previous experience of garments and fashion in an advantage. Experience as a Merchandiser or Allocator or a similar level is desirable. Duties •Strategic Analysis: Contribute to departmental strategy by conducting historical analysis and forecasting future trends. •Range Planning: Assist in building and maintaining detailed range plans, factoring in sales history and upcoming events. •Stock Management: Maintain accurate line flows to ensure stock availability aligns with forecasts and launch dates. •Performance Feedback: Analyse current trading performance and recommend actions to optimise profitability. •Promotional Planning: Propose markdowns and promotional activities whilst considering their impact on the bottom line. •Order Management: Manage stock orders from suppliers, track shipment progress, and ensure timely deliveries. •Channel Optimization: Monitor and adjust stock distribution across channels, ensuring optimal stock levels in all locations. •Team Development: Mentor Trainee Merchandisers and develop your own skills through ongoing learning and industry research. •Sustainability: Play an active role in advancing our company\’s sustainability goals. Skills and Knowledge •Previous experience as an Allocator, Trainee Merchandiser or Assistant Merchandiser. •Analytical Skills: Strong numerical ability and experience with Excel and reporting tools. •Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong negotiation and presentation skills. •Organisational Skills: Effective planning and self-organisation capabilities. •Retail Background: Experience in a retail environment is ideal, with knowledge of merchandising principles and systems. •Market Insight: Understand customer profiles, product ranges, and competitors. •Tech Savvy: Proficient in Excel, reporting and product lifecycle management systems. •Team Player: Strong cross-functional and collaboration skills JBRP1_UKTJ
