The CNC Machinist will produce machined parts by programming, setting-up, and operating CNC lathes, CNC vertical milling machines, predominantly turning.

traditional lathes and milling machines in a safe, reliable and effective manner in our bearing repair workshop. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Determine the fixtures, attachments and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications and mount them safely on the machine prior to beginning cutting metal.

Discuss project instruction and specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products.

Collaborate with colleagues to modify designs when existing ones are not feasible.

Modify machine speed, tooling and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts in a range of different ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

Experience of machining Various metals * Ability to write Fanuc, Siemens and Hurco programs.

Oversee cutting process, make adjustments throughout each job, catch mistakes as they happen and take necessary measures to eliminate errors.

Supervise machine operating parameters (e.g. temperature and tool wear).
-
Review and interpret cutting plans, enter them into control outlets before jobs and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary.

Management of consumables such as lubricants, tips and drills.
-
Higher school diploma or equivalent in mechanical engineering or machining.

Not less than 3 years hands-on CNC milling and turning experience in a manufacturing workshop with not less than 1 years’ experience in a repair workshop. Experience with 4-Jaw chucks are a definite advantage.

A comprehensive understanding materials handling including crane driving and slinging.
Skills and Competencies:

Technical skills including manual & CNC machining (milling and 4-jaw chuck turning an advantage)

A good knowledge of CNC software and hardware programming skills

Problem solving skills, particularly concerning the repair of worn parts where there is evidence of distortion, wear, ambiguous instructions, lack of clear information etc.

Effective record keeping.
