Role Overview
As a Sales Assistant you will deliver exceptional customer experience, engage proactively with shoppers, recommend products, and maintain a well‑stocked, tidy, and safe store. You will also handle tills, support deliveries, and work collaboratively to meet store targets and KPIs.
Responsibilities
- Proactively approach customers and offer helpful recommendations
- Provide a friendly, knowledgeable, and consistent experience
- Stay informed about product, promotions, and services
- Maintain excellent store standards – merchandising, cleanliness, stock replenishment
- Operate tills accurately and handle transactions with care
- Support deliveries, stockroom organisation, and product availability
- Follow health & safety, loss prevention, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with the team to meet store targets and KPIs
- Represent The Works as a positive, professional brand ambassador
- Work across store areas, handle stairs, deliveries, and moving stock
Keyholder Responsibilities
- Open and close the store securely
- Complete cashing‑up and end‑of‑day procedures accurately
- Take responsibility for smooth store operation when a manager is absent
- Support colleagues and respond to customer or operational issues
- Follow store security, health & safety, and loss‑prevention procedures
Skills & Behaviours

- Team‑player attitude with positivity and a can‑do mindset
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work a variety of shifts
- Comfortable learning to use tills and handle transactions accurately
- Organised and capable of thriving in a busy, fast‑paced environment
- Previous retail, customer‑service or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential
