Are you a skilled communications leader who has mastered the craft but keeps finding yourself working in silos, handed either the external or the internal brief but never both, and rarely given the strategic seat you know you have earned? Do you find that internal communications is treated as an afterthought in your current organisation, when you know it should be at the heart of everything? Are you a natural people leader who has outgrown your current structure and is ready to build, coach, develop and inspire a team as part of your core brief? Do you feel the environment you’re in is too rigid, too hierarchical or too slow for the kind of work you know you can do? Are you ready to step into a PR function that has been deliberately rebuilt and reshaped – and be the person who brings it all together?
If so, this could be the opportunity you have been looking for:
- You will step into a broad, senior role looking after internal communications, digital content, crisis and external PR and high-profile, business-critical crisis communications, acting as a trusted advisor through complex and sensitive situations – a true 360 remit, not a narrowed-down version of one.
- You will manage and develop direct reports within a sizeable team.
- The firm is warm, collaborative and non-hierarchical – polished and personable are not in competition here, and you will be valued for both.
- You will report to a highly regarded Head of Communications who has a mandate to operate strategically – and needs a trusted right hand to make that possible.
What we are looking for:
- An inspiring, confident people leader with hands-on experience of managing, mentoring and developing teams – someone others genuinely want to work for.
- A proactive corporate communications generalist with significant experience across internal communications, media relations, deep expertise in crisis and issues management, including leading on complex, high-stakes situations, and digital or social content.
- Calm under pressure, with high emotional intelligence, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence and advise at a senior level in a complex, partnership-led environment.
- In-house experience is strongly preferred although corporate agency experience considered.
- A professional services/legal background is helpful but not essential – the right leader will be able to make the transition; experience across sectors such as energy, media, life sciences, technology or professional services is particularly relevant.
