Job Description
The Head of Broking is responsible for leading the broking function and ensuring the effective placement of insurance risks, strong insurer relationships, and the delivery of high-quality technical and advisory support to client-facing teams. This senior leadership role plays a key part in driving commercial performance and operational excellence across all classes of business.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and deliver the broking strategy in line with the companyโs growth objectives.
Contribute to the wider business strategy as a member of the senior leadership team.
Lead innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the broking function.
Team Management
Lead, mentor and develop the broking teams to ensure high performance, collaboration and ongoing professional development.
Provide technical guidance, training and effective performance management.
Foster a culture of excellence, compliance and accountability across the function.
Market and Insurer Relationships
Build and maintain strong relationships with key insurers and underwriters.
Negotiate favourable terms, coverage structures and pricing for client placements.
Ensure market intelligence is current and effectively shared across the business.
Technical Oversight
Provide expert input on complex and high-value placements, including programme design and structuring.
Ensure all broking documentation and placement files meet regulatory and internal standards.
Drive consistency, quality and best practice across all broking activity.
Person Specification
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum of 10 yearsโ experience in commercial insurance.
Strong background across UK and international commercial insurance markets.
Proven leadership and management experience within a broking or placement function.
CII qualifications (DipCII or ACII) preferred.
Technically strong across a broad range of commercial insurance lines.
