Selwood is a leading pump rental solutions company in the UK.

We are looking to welcome a Class 1 Hiab Driver based in our Chandlers Ford Branch to load, deliver and collect items of plant and associated equipment between branches and customer sites in a safe, professional and efficient manner.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out work in compliance with Department of Transport Regulations and The Highway Code, with regard for personal safety, the safety of the workforce and the general public.
  • Ensure compliance with Tachograph operation and drivers’ hours’ legislation, including digital tachographs.
  • Maintain compliance with the Working Time Directive for mobile workers and observe all statutory break periods and Driver’s hours rules.
  • Adhere to all Company Policies, Procedures and Statutory Requirements, including the Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Conduct a risk visual assessment before loading and unloading.
  • Ensure all loading and unloading activity is carried out safely and efficiently, securing loads properly.
  • Perform daily maintenance and defect checks of the vehicle, reporting defects promptly to the Manager.
  • Attend scheduled safety inspections and coordinate booking with the Manager and garage.
  • Keep vehicle exterior and interior clean and presentable on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain tidy load bed area to prevent hazards.
  • Keep the Vehicle log book secure, including crane maintenance schedules and LOLER certificates.
  • Understand and comply with satellite tracking device use for asset control.
  • Submit accurate mileage readings every time the vehicle is refuelled.
  • Match items and quantities to Branch paperwork, noting discrepancies and obtaining signatures as required.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations and act as an ambassador for Selwood, promoting brand image.
  • Communicate accurately with supervisors and customers regarding job specifications, ETA’s, missing and damaged items.
  • Wear branded work clothing and comply with all PPE requirements.
  • Carry out tasks directed by supervisors, including assisting installations team onsite.
  • Be comfortable with required nights away in the cab.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Full Class 1 HGV driving licence (C+E) with no more than 6 points.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar industry.
  • Over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes).
  • Compliant with statutory medical standards for HGV and able to climb onto lorry bed to ensure secure loading and strapping.
