Job Description

Job Purpose

The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing, producing, and presenting high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, petits fours, and other baked goods to the standards expected at The Woodspeen.

The role requires creativity, attention to detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present a range of desserts, pastries, breads, and afternoon tea items to a consistently high standard.
  • Support the development of seasonal menus and new pastry concepts.
  • Ensure all pastry products are prepared in line with recipes, specifications, and presentation standards.
  • Monitor product quality, freshness, and consistency at all times.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in accordance with company and legal requirements.
  • Manage stock levels, ordering, and rotation of ingredients within the pastry section.
  • Minimise waste and ensure effective use of ingredients.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service operations.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior chefs and apprentices where required.
  • Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained in good working order.
