The Wonderfield Group has recently been purchased by Zensho Holdings, the leading food service company in Japan, aiming to become the world’s largest food company. We operate restaurants, factories, and thousands of sushi kiosks and have recently built a successful cut fruit business, Snowfruit. Combining this with the three businesses previously owned by Zensho – AFC, Sushi Circle, and Sushi Take – results in annual sales of $2.5 billion and EBITDA in excess of $140 million a year with an ambitious growth trajectory.
We are seeking a Junior Data Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of our data platform within the Microsoft Fabric environment. This role is ideal for someone early in their data engineering career who is eager to build scalable data solutions that drive insights across manufacturing, supply chain, and retail operations.
You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, high‑quality data pipelines and contribute to a modern, cloud‑based analytics ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric components (Data Factory, Dataflows, Lakehouse, Warehouse)
- Ingest data from multiple sources including ERP, POS systems, IoT devices, and third‑party vendors
- Support ETL/ELT processes to transform raw data into curated datasets for analytics and reporting
- Write and optimize SQL queries and Spark‑based transformations
- Monitor data pipelines and troubleshoot failures or performance issues
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across systems
- Participate in data model design for reporting and analytics use cases
- Work with analysts and business teams to understand data requirements
- Support reporting needs in Power BI by delivering clean, structured datasets
- Contribute to documentation of data flows, pipelines, and data definitions
- Learn and apply best practices in data engineering, DevOps, and data governance
- Identify opportunities to improve automation, reduce data latency, and enhance data reliability
Can be relied upon to work proactively – we require a candidate who doesn't need to be told what to do and takes responsibility for ensuring they are busy and productive. Candidates who would prefer to be less busy need not apply. Takes ownership – Data Engineering is often about fixing processes that are broken before anyone else notices; the successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to identify and fix problems without input from other people. Strong attention to detail – details matter in Data Engineering and we want a candidate who will go above and beyond to ensure that their development is consistent and well organised. Pride in work undertaken is important. Flexibility and humility – essential for good team working. Can demonstrate a detail‑oriented mindset. Can demonstrate a genuine interest in computer‑related problem solving (development, scripting, PC‑building and performance tuning, electronics etc).

Fantastic hybrid working environment: working Monday–Thursday on site and generally Friday from home.
