We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage a portfolio and deliver work from start to finish with minimal supervision. The role will include:
- Preparation and finalisation of limited company statutory accounts
- Corporation Tax computations and returns
- Charity accounts and related compliance
- Audit assignments (planning through to completion/file finalisation)
- Personal tax experience is a plus
- Liaising with clients, resolving queries, and maintaining strong client relationships
- Ensuring work is accurate, compliant, and completed to deadlines in line with UK accounting and tax legislation
- Maintaining clear working papers and well-organised files
- Strong written communication: professional emails and client-facing correspondence
- Confident use of software including Xero, QuickBooks Online (QBO), and IRIS (TaxCalc a plus)
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in a UK practice as a Senior Accountant (or equivalent)
- Strong technical knowledge of limited company accounts and Corporation Tax
- Experience with charities and audit work
- Ability to manage assignments independently from beginning to end
- Comfortable using Xero, QBO, and IRIS (TaxCalc experience is an advantage)
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and tax rules, with practical application
- Excellent communication skills (clear, pleasant manner; strong phone manner)
- Proactive, “can-do” attitude with logical thinking and good problem-solving skills
- Highly organised, able to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Team player with a positive, professional personality
- Strong Excel/Word skills and good email writing skills
