The Finance Director will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial leadership across the organisation. This is a hands-on role that combines high-level financial oversight with day-to-day operational responsibility. You will work in close partnership with the CEO and department heads to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the business, supporting its continued rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the organisation's financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Provide financial insight and modelling to support strategic decision-making at board and senior management level.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities and advise leadership accordingly.
  • Budgeting & Financial Management
  • Own the full budget cycle — from setting and planning through to monitoring, variance analysis, and reforecasting.
  • Work with department heads to develop accurate, realistic departmental budgets and ensure accountability for spend.
  • Maintain robust financial controls and cash flow management processes.
  • Reporting & Compliance
    • Produce timely, accurate management accounts, board packs, and financial reports as required by leadership and stakeholders.
    • Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and ensure full compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting standards.
    • Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, HMRC, and other financial institutions.
    • Oversee all reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness across accounts.
    • Act as the primary finance contact for the senior management team, board of trustees/directors, and external partners.
    • Present financial performance and forecasts to non-finance stakeholders in a clear and accessible way.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the organisation to support financially sound decision-making.
    • Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, continuous improvement, and professional development.
    • Oversee and improve financial systems and processes to support the organisation's growth trajectory.
    • Drive efficiencies through the effective use of technology and financial tools.

    Person Specification

    • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
    • Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a growing or dynamic organisation.
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge with a track record of producing accurate management and statutory accounts.
    • Demonstrated experience setting, managing, and reporting on budgets.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
    • Confident communicator, able to present complex financial information to diverse audiences.
    • Collaborative team player with the ability to build strong working relationships across departments.
    • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
    • Familiarity with financial systems implementation or improvement projects.
    • Prior experience working with boards or trustees.
