Head of Personnel

The Bedford Estates is seeking an experienced Head of Personnel to play a key leadership role in supporting and developing our workforce across one of the UK's most diverse family‑owned estates.

This is a rare opportunity to work closely with the Duke and Duchess of Bedford, trustees and senior managers, helping to shape the future of a business that spans heritage, sporting, property, leisure, hospitality, farming and tourism.

The Role

As a key member of the senior management team, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of people management, ensuring our employees are supported, developed and engaged while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and governance.

  • Lead and develop the Estates' personnel function.
  • Advise senior managers on employment law, employee relations and people strategy.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, training and development.
  • Manage employment policies, contracts, appraisals, disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Lead salary reviews, pensions and employee benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and GDPR requirements.

About You

You will be a qualified HR professional (CIPD Level 7 or equivalent) with significant senior level experience, excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence at all levels.
