Role Overview: Teaching Assistant at Witherslack Group supporting children with autism spectrum disorder and other SEND needs in an independent specialist day school.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the teacher in planning and delivering lessons to children with autism and complex learning needs.
  • Help pupils develop learning, self‑esteem and communication skills.
  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support as required.
  • Assist with specialised activities and therapies worked closely with our therapists.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and well‑resourced classroom environment.

Qualifications:

  • Team player with a genuine passion for supporting children to learn.
  • Experience working in a classroom or care setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Resilient, dedicated and able to manage demanding situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and online reference search (cost covered by Group).
