As a Pastoral Support Assistant you will help us meet our young people's emotional needs. Our young people have challenging complex emotional and behavioural needs (Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and need more support than most. You will ensure they get it by applying high standards of care. This means working with families and developing programmes for each individual young person. With careful assessment and planning, you will create a positive learning environment where every young person can thrive.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the emotional needs of young people with complex needs, applying high standards of care.
  • Work with families and develop individualized programmes for each young person.
  • Conduct careful assessment and planning to create a positive learning environment where every young person can thrive.
  • Work with young people with BESD or ASD in a school or care setting to understand developmental needs and pastoral care.
  • Be a good listener, motivate others, and work effectively in a team to inspire young people to achieve.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and strong organizational skills to contribute as an asset to the Witherslack Group.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with ASC, ADHD or SEMH pupils and with working with families in challenging circumstances; able to support and resolve difficulties.
  • Experience of multi-agency work with understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation, policies, and guidance.
  • Ideally NVQ 3 in Care / Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
