Working in our Children's Homes means being part of a young person's day-to-day life. You'll take care of them day to day, ensuring things run smoothly and creating lasting memories. It involves helping with homework, completing paperwork and planning activities. Evenings and weekends are for fun – whether playing on the Xbox, a game of football, a film day or going go-karting – and the work really matters. It is about tapping into each young person's needs, personality and potential and guiding them toward a positive future.

You’ll start life as a Residential Support Worker (RSW) by joining our Care Academy – four weeks of off‑the‑job training with experienced WG professionals to help you feel confident and ready to support our young people.

Location & Salary

Northampton, Northamptonshire – Full Time. Base salary £29,034 to £35,400 per year, or £34,274 to £40,640 assuming good attendance and up to four sleep‑ins per month (each paid at £80).

Qualifications

  • A can‑do attitude – a team player who rolls up their sleeves to help others.
  • Honesty and empathy are a must; we genuinely care about our young people (and each other).
  • Resilience to deal with challenging situations.
  • A full UK driving licence held for at least 12 months.
  • If you don't have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), we'll pay for you to study and support you every step of the way.

Responsibilities

The role involves supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and helping them to create the best possible outcome in our care. You will assist with daily routines, education support, paperwork, activities and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment.
