We have a rare opportunity working as a Maintenance Operative, overseeing a variety of duties at our wonderful 40 bed, Dementia and Residential Care Home located in Brockenhurst. The Wilverley Association has been operating since 1964 and we are passionate about people whether it's the residents we support, their relatives or our team members. We want to be able to recruit the best people, so we continue to be the care homes that our residents want to live in, and that our teams want to work in.

Reporting in to the Facilities Manager, you will carry out skilled DIY & general maintenance work, covering all aspects of the maintenance and upkeep of the care home (both internally and externally). As this role involves mostly working on your own, we are looking for someone with broad multi-trade experience such as basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical maintenance (such as changing light bulbs), repairs to tiling and flooring, painting and decorating and easing doors and windows.

You will be predominantly based at our home Heartland Manor, Brockenhurst, however on occasion, may be requested to provide cover or additional support at our second home, Little Haven in Dibden Purlieu. Therefore, you will need to have access to own transport.

Job Responsibilities:

  • General DIY and Maintenance work, ensuring high standards are adhered to across the home
  • Regular checks and assessments of both private and public areas, in-house compliance
  • Carry out tasks within agreed time limits
  • Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work
  • Ensure you are always operating to Health and Safety standards
  • From time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects, as are reasonably required of your job role
  • Liaising and working closely with the Home Manager, Care Staff and the Domestic teams
  • Interacting with residents and care staff to help create a warm and homely environment
  • Ensuring to report any additional maintenance and H&S issues to the Facilities Manager and/or the Home Manager

  • Strong all round knowledge of multiple trades with relevant experience

  • Previous experience working in a Care Home is preferred, but not essential
