The predicted salary is between 12000 - 18000 £ per year.

Our aim within the practice is to treat our patients as though they were our own animals, and to treat our clients in the way we would wish to be dealt with ourselves. This philosophy should be carried through at all levels, in terms of our demeanour, appearance, professionalism, and communication (between vets, clients, external providers such as laboratories, and staff). We all have a part to play in ensuring the smooth running of the various aspects of the practice.

All staff are expected to work to the highest clinical standards. Support and training will be provided to ensure these standards of clinical excellence are attained.

Purpose of Position

To work and gain knowledge in all aspects of working within a veterinary practice. You will be required to attend college and study the Vetskill VTEC Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing via an Apprenticeship route to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

General Duties

As this is a trainee position, you will work throughout the practice to experience and learn all duties of a Veterinary Nurse. You will be supported by a Clinical Coach during your training. You will undertake tasks and gain experience in areas including:

  • Health and Safety, including operational requirements
  • Reception and administration duties, understanding professional relationships and communication
  • Practical knowledge of anatomy
  • Animal welfare, health, and husbandry
  • Animal handling
  • Infection control
  • Veterinary nursing care of hospitalized animals
  • Supporting veterinary medicines supply
  • Diagnostic imaging support
  • Laboratory diagnostics support
  • Operating theatre support
  • Monitoring small animal anesthesia
  • Peri-operative nursing support
  • Support of small animal patients
  • Principles of emergency and critical care

You may work at any of the Willows Veterinary Group\'s approved practices during your training.

Principles of Practice

You must ensure the health and welfare of animals in your care, maintaining five principles:

  3. Independence and impartiality
  4. Client confidentiality and trust
  5. Professional accountability

We cover the cost of the SVN course, provide excellent training and support. Candidates should have 5 GCSE passes including Maths, English, and Science, previous animal handling experience, and the ability to drive.

The role is full-time, 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with potential weekend and bank holiday shifts at our Warrington location.
