An opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to work at The Willow Tree Practice to support our friendly clinical team.
We require the below hours:
- Monday 07:30-18:30
- Friday 07:30-18:30
- Saturday 08:00-12:00 (Saturday hours are paid at a rate of 1.5 x normal pay. This is factored into the above pay rate)
Main duties of the job:
- To support our clinical teams to deliver safe and responsive patient-centred care.
- You will undertake phlebotomy, long-term condition reviews, health checks, ECGs, injections and wound care.

The Willow Tree Practice is based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. As the larger of two practices in the town, we have a list size of 11,500 patients. We operate a friendly family-feel approach to our team. Free car parking.
Job responsibilities:
- Venepuncture
- Observations (BP/pulse/height/weight)
- Simple dressings (under a wound management plan)
- Urinalysis
- Collecting swabs and other samples
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Carrying out ECGs
- Near Patient Testing for INR management
- Act as chaperone
- Assist with minor surgery / gynae clinics
- NHS Health Checks
- Diabetic foot checks
- Injections / Immunisations (under PSD and supervision of prescriber)
- Long Term Condition reviews
- Stock control and ordering
- Fridge temperature recording
- Segregation of clinical waste
Person Specification:
- Personal Attributes: Polite and confident, flexible and cooperative, motivated, high levels of integrity and loyalty, sensitive and empathetic to patient needs, ability to work under pressure.
Qualifications:
- If has not already successfully completed NVQ Level II Health & Social Care, willing and able to complete this or equivalent training once in post (as agreed with line manager).
- GCSE grade 4/C or above in maths & English, or equivalent (if candidate does not hold these qualifications or a recognised equivalent, competency testing may be required).
- NVQ Level II Health & Social Care or above.
- Trained in phlebotomy (if not already trained in phlebotomy, willing and able to complete training once in post).
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to follow policy and procedure.
- Effective time management.
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Competent in use of SystmOne.
- Competent in the use of Office and Outlook.
Experience:
- Work in a phlebotomist or HCA role.
- Professional experience of healthcare.
