Make a Difference Every Day

Are you a caring, patient and positive person who wants to make a real difference to people's lives?

The Wilf Ward Family Trust is looking for two dedicated Full-Time Support Workers to join our friendly team in Market Weighton, supporting three gentlemen to live fulfilling, happy and independent lives in their own home.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive team where kindness, respect, teamwork and a good sense of humour are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Service

The service is a welcoming four-bedroom detached home situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in Market Weighton. It offers a comfortable and homely environment, with shared living and dining areas, a conservatory, kitchen and a large rear garden where the gentlemen enjoy gardening and growing their own tomatoes.

The team provides support 24 hours a day, helping the gentlemen enjoy everyday life, make choices and maintain their independence. Each person has individual needs, routines and interests, so our approach is always person-centred.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you'll help the gentlemen with everyday activities, encourage their independence and support them to enjoy meaningful lives in their own home and local community.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting daily living tasks, including cooking, cleaning, shopping and preparing meals.
  • Assisting with personal care, medication and healthcare appointments where required.
  • Supporting individuals to manage their finances and make informed choices.
  • Encouraging hobbies, social activities and involvement in the local community.
  • Promoting independence, dignity, choice and personal development.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships and providing emotional support.
  • Following individual support plans and maintaining a safe, comfortable home.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality, person-centred support.

Working Hours

These are full-time positions, each offering 35 hours per week. Shifts vary according to the needs and routines of the people we support and may include early, late and weekend shifts.

Staff are expected to work at least every other weekend, with additional flexibility sometimes required to cover annual leave and sickness.

Essential Requirements

  • A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
  • A caring, patient and positive attitude.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to promoting dignity, choice and independence.
  • Willingness to undertake training and ongoing professional development.

Previous experience in care is welcome but not essential, as full training will be provided.

What We Offer

At The Wilf Ward Family Trust, we want our Support Workers to feel valued and supported. Benefits include:

  • Flexible working opportunities.
  • Fully funded, nationally recognised training and qualifications.
  • Access to our rewards platform and Blue Light Card Scheme.
  • A 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.

  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to build a rewarding career while making a genuine difference.
