Permanent & Full Time (35 hrs/week) £30,000 per annum Hybrid working with offices based in Midlothian.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person with knowledge of IT systems and GIS in the environment sector to join The Wildlife Information Centre’s team. You will be responsible for maintaining TWIC’s IT systems and databases. In acquiring, analysing and supplying biodiversity data, you will be liaising with a wide range of public and private organisations across south‑east and central Scotland. TWIC is an environmental charity with an established reputation for excellence in the provision of biodiversity data within south‑east and central Scotland. As a Local Environmental Record Centre, TWIC currently holds over 4.5 million species records as well as extensive habitat and designated site information. Our events support recorders and stimulate interest in biological recording.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage TWIC’s biological data holdings using ArcGIS Pro, Recorder 6 and MS Access.
  • Service client data requests and supply data products to Service Level Agreement holders.
  • Maintain the office IT system and networks, and provide technical support to the team.
  • Manage the TWIC website and contribute to social media.
  • Contribute to data flow between local, regional and national recording networks.
