The NFWI is seeking a Volunteer Property Adviser (VPA) to support a dedicated Property Working Group who have been tasked with exploring different property investment options to support the future needs of the organisation and effectively contribute to delivering its charitable objects. The Property Working Group will make recommendations to both the NFWI and Denman Board. The VPA will have no voting rights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on property-related matters, ensuring the Property Working Group have a clear understanding of risks, opportunities, and best practices subject to the type of property.
  • Support the Property Working Group with the appointment of Independent Property Advisers (IPA) on the acquisition of a property.
  • Review and evaluate written recommendations and reports provided by the IPA to the NFWI Property Procurement Panel.

Person Specification

  • Significant professional experience in property, real estate, surveying, estate management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess technical reports and financial implications.
  • Ability to provide impartial advice.
  • Commitment to the objectives and values of both the NFWI and Denman Trust.
  • Willingness to volunteer time and expertise in an advisory capacity.
  • Experience in charity property acquisitions.
  • Previous experience of serving on a board or advisory panel.

Commitment & Terms

The Volunteer Property Expert will serve as a non-voting member of the NFWI and Denman Trust Property Panel. This is an unpaid voluntary role, though reasonable expenses may be covered in line with organisational policies. The estimated time commitment is 8-10 hours per year, which includes attending 4 virtual meetings. The appointment will be for an initial term of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal.
