Wakefield – Logistics & Dispatch – Full time, Permanent

The Whittan Group is the largest manufacturer of steel storage products in the United Kingdom. Operating through a number of market‑leading brands, we design, manufacture and install storage solutions for commercial and industrial environments in the UK and Europe. We are looking for a Reach FLT / Warehouse Operative to join our busy and growing organisation in Wakefield. The main purpose of the role is ensuring the correct items are selected from the locations on the pick sheets, supplied by the warehouse coordinator. Day shift of 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Using a Forklift License (Reach truck).
  • Good understanding of numbers and letters due to requirement to recognise orders and pick accurately from designated locations.
  • Manual Handling – able to manage the manual handling of items across the warehouse.
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work independently using own initiative.
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge with ability to recommend and introduce new procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • A ‘can do’ approach to work.
  • Conscientious about the quality of work as items must be packed securely to avoid any damage during transit.
  • To pick, securely pack, and correctly label warehouse orders ready for dispatch to various high‑level clients.
  • Items to be securely packed will include beams, bracings, shelves and multiple types of fixings which are all then sent for the installation teams to be able to build racking.
  • To assist on pallet racking frame build.

Essential Skills

  • Reach Forklift licence
  • High level of numeracy accuracy and the ability to read and follow pick notes.
  • Good communication skills

Desirable Skills

  • Counterbalance Forklift licence
  • Previous experience in warehouse picking environment
