The Production Technician will ensure the most efficient running of the assets within their area assigned through the effective setting, monitoring and maintenance for which they are responsible and will assist with the day-to-day mechanical breakdowns of equipment, reporting any issues over technical ability to maintenance.
To train and guide other operators in the areas for use of best practice in running the assets, sharing responsibility for ensuring safety within operations are paramount, ensuring a safe working environment by managing direct reports to follow company processes and procedures in relation to Health and Safety.
Set, operate and troubleshoot the assets through technical knowledge and competence. Input data into the PC - works orders and part specifications to ensure correct set up for manufacture. Fault find on daily generic issues, escalating complex faults through the maintenance reporting systems. Inspection of production first offs to ensure rejects are not passed on through the process. Work to the Works Order due dates and programs. Produce quality product, at the agreed output rates, within drawing stated tolerances, thus avoiding unnecessary scrap. To produce product to quantity and sizes stipulated on the Works Order/Route cards.
To operate all machine controls, which are a combination of mechanical, push button and computer key/touch pads. Undertake programming of length and punch setting via an integral computer. Ensure scrap is recorded and segregated in line with procedures. To train and mentor operators on safe working processes and procedures. To assist with the introduction of new equipment when required.
Experience:
- Experience of working with metal forming techniques
- Experience of welding techniques
- Good attention to detail to highlight any issues or defects
Desirable:
- Experience of working with rolling mills & paint lines
- Power Press and Slinging/Crane Certificates
