Overview

Senior Residential Children\’s Support Worker – Saffron Walden at The WhiteTrees Group. This role focuses on providing a therapeutic, consistent and safe environment for vulnerable and complex young people in residential care. It emphasizes continuity through care planning, therapeutic interventions and a team-based approach to build brighter futures for the young people in our care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary basic care and a nurturing, therapeutic environment; ensure shifts reflect this practice.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed daily to a high standard by all staff.
  • Complete debriefs for staff and young people after any physical intervention/incident, within regulatory timeframes.
  • Work with firm and consistent boundaries to create safety and containment for the young people.
  • Oversee key workers, supporting their development and meeting responsibilities required.
  • Hold weekly meetings for the young people (minimum).

Care Planning

  • Review Care Plan updates to reflect current needs of each young person.
  • Review Risk Assessments (RAMPs) and Positive Behaviour Plans for currency.
  • Ensure Pathfinders are created, worked towards, and updated weekly.
  • Maintain a health and medical events sheet with details for all appointments within the month.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Manager/Social worker to provide a comprehensive history of a child’s life and promote the young people’s identities.
  • Liaise with other professionals (e.g., schools, social services) and record relevant information.
  • Assist in preparation for reviews and attend them.

Team Leadership

  • Hold Shift Evaluations and ensure shifts run safely with active engagement with young people.
  • Be accountable for the safe running of the home during shifts and manage day-to-day operations and delegation to TPWs.
  • Lead and supervise TPWs during each shift and act as a positive role model.
  • Develop the staff team through mentoring and contribute to CPD of TPWs you work with.
  • Support colleagues as part of the staff team and be prepared to receive support as necessary.
  • Remain flexible within reasonable bounds to ensure necessary cover for the home.

  • QCF Level 3 minimum
