We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Night Senior Care Assistant to join our team. In this vital night-time role, you will ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of our residents while maintaining a calm and supportive environment throughout the night. You will assist with personal care needs, monitor residents\’ conditions, and provide reassurance and support during overnight hours. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding and supervising night staff, ensuring all care duties are delivered to the highest standard.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality personal care to residents during the night, including assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming as needed.
  • Support residents with night-time routines, repositioning, and comfort checks, promoting dignity and independence at all times.
  • Monitor residents\’ health and wellbeing throughout the night, responding promptly to any changes or concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and—when necessary—families to ensure seamless continuity of care between day and night teams.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor night staff, offering clear guidance and support to maintain high standards of care.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of personalised care plans tailored to each resident\’s needs.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of residents\’ overnight wellbeing, activities, and any changes in condition.
  • Ensure the care home remains safe, clean, and secure during the night, promptly addressing any hazards or issues.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance your skills and knowledge in senior and night-time care.

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in a senior care or similar position, ideally within a residential or nursing home setting.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the confidence to supervise, motivate, and support night staff effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with residents and colleagues and hand over information clearly to the day team.
  • Familiarity with digital care systems and electronic record keeping is beneficial.
  • A genuine passion for delivering compassionate, person-centred care to older adults.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and proactive during quiet periods as well as emergencies.
