You're a Senior Financial Accountant with at least 3 years of experience in the same or similar role. You hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting (or similar) and a CPA/CA qualification. As the Senior Financial Accountant, you work closely with the General Accounting team, playing a vital role in the management and integrity of Whiddon's financial information.

Your knowledge and understanding of the interaction between all finance functions is sound, and your ability to reconcile accounts and move within multiple systems is your thing. You come with demonstrated commercial business acumen, and the ability to perform data and statistical analysis to report on trends and anomalies. You are no stranger to the completion and submission of statutory reporting and the ability to complement the management accounting/business partnering functions.

You work well with others, your interpersonal and communication skills are impeccable, and you have experience in leading a small team. ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, your day may include:

  • Assisting the Finance Manager in leading the month-end financial reporting process, audit preparation, payroll analysis, preparation of year-end statutory accounts and annual budgeting and re-forecasting, along with leading on the preparation of monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, internal management reports and cashflow statements.
  • Managing the General Ledger including overseeing the monthly balance sheet, banking and inter-company reconciliations, and completion of monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules. Periodic cash flow reporting and overall treasury management (inc. managed fund portfolio) and preparation of GST and FBT returns.
  • Preparation and submission of statutory reporting, including but not limited to annual prudential reporting (ACFR), Quarterly Financial Reporting (QFR), Workers Compensation declarations, Retirement Village Quarterly Statements, Grant acquittals and benchmarking returns.
  • Liaison with external Auditors, Bank Managers, Government Departments and other required external stakeholders.
  • Assisting in process improvement and systems enhancement initiatives and proactively identify new initiatives that could benefit the organisation and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and Accounting standards.
  • Providing guidance and direction to the wider finance team, including training and mentoring junior team members, site administration and management, on all matters relating to the Financial Accounting function.
  • Responding to stakeholder enquiries (internal and external) via telephone, email and in-person (as required).
  • Assist with system testing, upgrades or identification of efficiencies and training, along with establishing, monitoring and reviewing systems and controls to detect and minimise errors, fraud and/or theft.

While aged care experience is not essential, it is preferred.
