The Role:

To further support the pastoral care of our students and work under the direction of our Office Manager and Heads of Year to provide support to our students. The role will be based at the Westwood Academy. The working pattern is as follows: Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 3.30pm with half an hour unpaid lunch break and Friday 8.30am to 3.00pm with a half hour unpaid lunch break. The working pattern can be flexible for the right candidate.

The successful candidate would ideally have some experience of working in a secondary school or working in youth services, however, a commitment to learn and a willingness to engage positively with young people is essential.

In addition to supporting the students within the school, the role will also support the promotion of high levels of attendance and punctuality of students in-line with key areas of safeguarding, well-being, and attendance. The candidate will provide support to pupils and liaise with key staff across the school including the Office Manager, Heads of Years, and Senior Leaders.

The Admin Assistant will work within the pastoral team to help support case-loads of students and organise the liaison between the school, students, parents/carers, outside agencies and other professionals as necessary. Our on-going aim and commitment is to support students to achieve their full potential.

Key areas of the role will include:

  • Promote the vision and values of the school and Trust with all stakeholders including parents, visitors and the local and wider community.
  • Support the Office Manager to provide admin support for the Head of Years including Sixth Form, SEND and reception duties.
  • Answering and dealing with enquiries, making telephone calls on behalf of the Heads of Year's and other senior staff.
  • To devise and use administration processes that enable an effective communication system between school staff relating to pupils sent home and subsequent meetings as required.
  • To undertake a wide range of pastoral and administrative duties as directed by the Office Manager; to include dealing with students, sending out agendas for meetings, the taking of action minutes, filing, using Microsoft software to produce documents and distribution of documents in line with Data Protection and compliance with GDPR.
