About the WesTrac Apprenticeship Program
Launch your career with WesTrac and earn while you learn. Complete a 4- or 5-year apprenticeship (dual trade), gaining a nationally recognised trade qualification while working on Caterpillar equipment and the latest technology. You’ll build strong hands-on skills while training in modern facilities and workshops with expert support. Based in Tamworth, this program sets you up for long-term career growth—from technical roles to leadership and beyond.
As a WesTrac Apprentice, you will learn how to:
- Inspect, diagnose and repair a vast range of Caterpillar Mobile Plant equipment
- Perform component overhauls and planned component change outs
- Assemble new machines to customer specifications
- Interpret schematics and technical drawings
- Service machines and write service reports
- Rebuild machines
- Safely operate workshop equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes and tools
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Navigate Caterpillar systems to ensure all work is done in accordance with Caterpillar’s quality standards
About you:
- Must be 16 years or older by December 2026
- Australian working rights (Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- Strong communication, reading and writing skills
- Genuine interest in mechanical trades, machinery or hands-on learning
- Driver’s licence and reliable transport (or close to obtaining one) with ability to travel to work and training
- Honest, reliable and dependable
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude
