Senior Staff Nurse – Haematology/Oncology
Location: The Wellington Hospital, St Johns Wood, London
Hours: Full Time 37.5hrs | Contract: Permanent | Salary: Competitive + Fantastic Benefits
We are seeking a Senior Staff Nurse to join our expert Cancer Nursing Team at The Wellington Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK. While this role is typically suited to Band 6 nurses, we warmly welcome applications from established Band 5 Staff Nurses with a minimum of 3 years post‑registration experience in haematology or oncology nursing. Applicants must also be SACT‑approved and have at least 1 year of experience independently administering chemotherapy.
Our hospital is rated “Good” by the CQC and proudly holds the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark Award. The purpose‑built Medical Oncology Unit includes 17 oncology beds and 2 neuroendocrine suites, delivering bespoke, patient‑centred care.
Responsibilities :
- Provide high standards of specialist oncology care.
- Maintain a nurse‑to‑patient ratio of 1:4, delivering individualised treatment planning and assessments.
- Be at the forefront of modern cancer care, accessing cutting‑edge treatments.
- Contribute to clear career progression pathways into leadership roles such as Sister or Matron.
Qualifications
- Current NMC Nurse registration.
- Ideally a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse, or
- A Band 5 Nurse with:
- Minimum 3 years post‑registration oncology nursing experience.
- Experience as an approved chemotherapy giver (SACT).
- At least 6 months of independently consolidated chemotherapy administration.
- Strong knowledge of systemic anti‑cancer treatments and their side effects.
