Qualified Dispenser – Medicines Management
- 25 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- 9:30am – 2:30pm
Looking for a better work-life balance? Want to use your dispensing knowledge without the demands of a traditional dispensary? This could be the opportunity for you!
We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic and experienced Qualified Dispenser (NVQ Level 2 minimum) to join our team in a Medicines Management role.
This is a slightly different opportunity for someone with a dispensing background who would like to use their knowledge and experience in a practice-based role, with consistent daytime hours and no routine dispensing duties.
What will you be doing?
You will play an important role in supporting the safe and efficient management of patients' prescriptions and medication records.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Prescription Management: Receiving, logging and processing prescription requests, ensuring prescriptions are appropriately managed and issued for collection from patients' nominated local pharmacies.
-
Patient Communication: Handling telephone calls and prescription-related enquiries, providing a helpful and professional service to patients.
-
Patient Records: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medication records, ensuring all information is handled confidentially and in line with data protection requirements.
-
Administrative Support: Supporting the wider medicines management team with day-to-day processes and ensuring prescription workflows run smoothly.
What makes this role different?
Unlike a traditional dispensing position, this role does not involve preparing or dispensing medication.
That means:
-
No preparing or assembling prescriptions.
-
No ordering, receiving or maintaining pharmaceutical stock.
-
No handling heavy medication totes or carrying stock deliveries.
-
No handling or managing controlled drugs.
-
No routine physical dispensing duties.
Instead, you can concentrate on prescription management, patient communication and the administrative processes that help keep medicines management safe and efficient.
For anyone who would still like to maintain their practical dispensing skills, there may also be opportunities to undertake dispensing work at one of our other dispensing practices within our Group.
What are we looking for?
-
NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing (minimum requirement).
-
Previous experience working in a dispensary or pharmacy environment.
-
Good knowledge of medication and prescription processes.
-
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
-
A high level of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
-
Someone who enjoys working as part of a team and supporting patients.
Why join us?
-
Family-friendly hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am–2:30pm.
-
A consistent 25-hour working week.
-
No physical dispensing or stock-handling responsibilities.
-
An opportunity to use your existing qualifications and experience in a different way.
-
A supportive working environment.
What's on offer
- NHS Pension Scheme (23.7% contributions)
- Generous annual leave entitlement of 36 days including bank holidays.
- Staff social events
- Employee awards
- Free Parking
- Contratual sick pay scheme + bereavement pay
- Access to the employee assistance program
- A supportive and collaborative working environment
- Opportunities for professional development and growth
