THE JOB
Do you enjoy taking bloods and making a positive difference to your patients’ experience? Are you calm, compassionate and understanding, with the ability to put nervous or anxious patients at ease?
We are looking for an experienced Phlebotomist to join our friendly team at Swingbridge Surgery in Grantham on a part-time basis.
As part of the role, you will provide a safe, efficient and professional phlebotomy service to our patients. You will be responsible for taking blood samples accurately, ensuring specimens are labelled correctly and handled appropriately, ready for processing.
You will be an important part of the patient journey, helping to ensure that their experience is as comfortable and positive as possible.
THE ROLE
- 10 hours per week
- Any 2 afternoons per week until 18:30
- Taking blood samples from patients and ensuring specimens are correctly labelled and stored
- Preparing samples for collection and onward processing
- At the end of each working day, transporting blood samples to Grantham Hospital for processing
- Travel time to and from Grantham Hospital is included within your working hours, so you will not be expected to undertake this journey in your own time
WHOM ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Experience in working in phlebotomy services
- Phlebotomist qualification ideal
- Able to perform phlebotomy procedures without direct supervision
- Awareness of Health & Safety/Infection Control regulations
- Ability to complete associated administration, record keeping, labelling samples
- Ability to explain procedures to patients, careful and methodical
- Good customer skills essential
- IT Literate
- SystmOne experience desirable
