The Recipe (About the Role)

As a Category Lead, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering a clear, insight-led Category Vision across both customer accounts and internal teams. This role combines strategic thinking with commercial impact - translating consumer, shopper and market insights into compelling category strategies and tailored customer plans that drive sustainable growth for the retailer, the category and the wider business.

  • Deliver and activate the category vision both internally and with customers, ensuring alignment to retailer strategies and wider business priorities.
  • Partner with customers to bring the category strategy to life, building long-term relationships focused on shared growth across branded and private label ranges.
  • Translate insight into action by developing clear point-of-purchase plans across fixtures, displays and digital touchpoints.
  • Use data and insight to shape recommendations, delivering range, display and distribution outcomes for each customer.
  • Provide category insight to influence judgement across commercial teams, brand strategy and New Product Development (NPD).
  • Own the shopper and in-store experience, ensuring judgements reflect real customer behaviour and mission-based shopping.
  • Monitor market performance and trends, maintaining a strong understanding of competitors, shopper needs and emerging opportunities.
  • Develop clear category frameworks and storytelling that support marketing and commercial strategies and strengthen customer engagement.

  • Category management experience within Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
  • Experience partnering with multiple grocery retailers and building effective relationships.
  • Strong analytical capability, translating data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Good understanding of shopper, consumer and customer behaviours.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, insight-led category presentations.
  • Confident influencing skills when working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-organised, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
