The Opportunity

This role is suited to an experienced consultant (6–10+ years’ experience) looking to lead technically complex building acoustics projects, take ownership of client relationships, and play a key role in a growing consultancy with clear progression to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage building acoustics projects from concept through completion.
  • Deliver detailed design advice on sound insulation (Part E / TGD‑E compliance), internal ambient noise, building services noise and vibration, and room acoustics where relevant.
  • Undertake and oversee acoustic modelling (e.g. INSUL, Odeon, EASE), sound insulation testing and reporting, and technical calculations in line with ISO / BS standards.
  • Provide clear, practical advice to architects, developers, and contractors.
  • Support and mentor junior staff in technical delivery and reporting.
  • Contribute to business development, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
  • Maintain high-quality, report-ready technical outputs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong experience in building acoustics consultancy with a proven project track record.
  • Solid understanding of Part E / TGD‑EBS and ISO acoustic standards.
  • Acoustic design for residential and mixed-use developments.
  • Experience with INSUL, SoundPlan (or equivalent), and room acoustics software.
  • Strong technical reporting and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and client relationships independently.
  • Full driver’s licence.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience across both UK and Irish regulatory environments.
  • Membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA or working towards).
  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g. IOA Diploma or MSc in Acoustics).
  • Experience in environmental acoustics (supporting role).
