The Wave, Bristol, are recruiting an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager on a permanent basis. As our Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at The Wave, you will assist in the running of our busy Food and Beverage department which includes the kitchen, Clubhouse and food pop ups around site. Working alongside our Food and Beverage Manager, you will achieve this by ensuring the day-to-day operations run smoothly through people management, training program implementation, delegation and knowing what your departments needs at different times. You will be experienced across all areas (bar, floor, counter, cellar and kitchen) working wherever your department needs help. This experience allows you to assist in the training and coaching of your team so they are the best they can be.

Our F&B area can seat 300+ visitors (inside and out) and is a high-volume operation. We feed and water super hungry surfers, our guests staying at The Camp – a 25-safari tent set up, and spectators who come to hang out in our amazing venue.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Carry out Duty Management shifts (including early mornings, late nights and weekends)
  • Create and post the daily shift brief to the team
  • Work with the Food & Beverage Manager to create group booking briefs and execute scheduled large group booking events
  • Work with and maintain relationships with third party companies such as suppliers
  • Lead the stock take process, investigate and analyse results and create actions to remedy
  • Champion and role model the highest levels of service to the team
  • Go the extra mile to make our visitors happy and ensuring they leave The Wave with a smile on their face
  • Ensure the Clubhouse always looks its best, including displays, using your initiative to complete and delegate regular cleaning tasks
  • Comply with legal and company health and safety standards, and ensure you are following all risk assessments
  • Create, publish and manage the front of house rota in line with labour targets
  • Complete check ins, reviews and 1:1’s with the Front of House team. Manage performance fairly through the provision of open, honest and constructive feedback
  • Be commercially astute to maximise the Food & Beverage contribution to the business by paying close attention to labour costs, stock management, wastage and opportunities to upsell where possible

This role will include working patterns that vary throughout the year and there are a mixture of early, mid and late shifts with an earliest start time of 05:15 and a latest finish time of 00.00.
