About the Role
As Chef Team Leader at The Wave, you will take control of the kitchen and lead the team in the absence of the Chef Management team. You will support the delivery of fantastic food, an amazing customer experience, and a kitchen operation that is safe, compliant and commercially strong. You will lead by example on shift, ensuring standards, pace and teamwork are maintained across all kitchen sections while mentoring junior chefs and driving operational excellence. This role is a fixed-term contract for 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading kitchen service and supporting operations across all sections
- Ensuring menu items are produced to spec and at pace
- Monitoring prep levels and maintaining full menu availability
- Supporting KPI delivery through portion control, stock rotation and waste management
- Overseeing daily and weekly job completion including deep cleaning and production
- Ensuring HACCP, COSHH and food safety standards are adhered to and recorded
- Mentoring and supporting junior chefs to meet company standards
- Acting as a role model for kitchen safety, behaviour and professionalism
About You
You are a confident and capable chef who thrives under pressure and enjoys supporting others to perform at their best. You combine strong technical ability with leadership presence and a passion for maintaining high standards.
We’re looking for
- Experience working across multiple kitchen sections
- Previous experience supporting or leading a kitchen team on shift
- Strong knowledge of food safety, allergens, HACCP and COSHH
- Ability to organise service and delegate effectively
- A positive, proactive and calm leadership style
Qualifications
- Level 2 Food Safety (minimum)
- Level 3 Food Safety (desirable)
- Proven experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen
