The Gym Instructor / Lifeguard plays a key role in the day-to-day operation of the Leisure Club, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and high-quality experience for all members and guests. This dual-role position is responsible for gym supervision, pool safety, customer engagement, and the delivery of excellent service standards across the facility.
Responsibilities
- Support the smooth daily operation of the Leisure Club, maintaining high safety and service standards at all times.
- Supervise gym users, ensuring correct equipment use and member safety.
- Conduct 1-to-1 gym appointments, including fitness assessments, screenings, and tailored training plans.
- Provide guidance on lifestyle changes, health improvement, and basic dietary considerations.
- Maintain vigilant supervision of the swimming pool, identifying risks and responding swiftly to emergencies.
- Carry out pool rescues and administer first aid when required.
- Complete cleaning and maintenance schedules, reporting faults or safety concerns promptly.
- Deliver consistently high levels of customer service, presenting a professional, friendly, and approachable manner at all times.
- Assist with fitness classes where qualified.
Qualifications
- Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification.
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
- Confident, polite, and approachable, with the ability to engage a diverse membership base of over 7,000 members.
- Flexible to work shifts, including early mornings (from 6:00am) and late evenings (up to 10:15pm).
- Ability to teach group exercise classes is desirable but not essential.
- GCSEs or equivalent qualification preferred.
