Strategic Client Partner – Content Licensing

The Washington Post’s Content Licensing team seeks an entrepreneurial, relationship‑oriented partner to accelerate global growth and expand innovative AI/data licensing opportunities. The role focuses on building and managing strategic partnerships across designated geographies and verticals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic outreach plans to drive recurring licensing revenue.
  • Identify, prospect, and engage senior decision‑makers across media, AI/data, financial services, business intelligence, distribution, and enterprise technology sectors.
  • Lead consultative sales cycles from discovery through negotiation, contracting, and onboarding coordination.
  • Build and maintain executive‑level relationships with strategic partners and prospective clients.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Legal, Product, Engineering, Editorial, Finance, and PR/Communications teams to support complex partnership opportunities.
  • Manage pipeline visibility, opportunity tracking, forecasting, and account activity within Salesforce.
  • Support renewal and expansion discussions within assigned strategic accounts.
  • Represent The Washington Post at industry conferences, networking events, and partner meetings.
  • Monitor emerging industry trends, competitive activity, and evolving AI/data licensing opportunities to support business growth.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, licensing, media, business intelligence, SaaS, data, or related industries.
  • Proven track record of driving new business development and managing complex consultative sales cycles.
  • Strong relationship‑building and executive communication skills.
  • Experience navigating multi‑stakeholder enterprise negotiations and extended sales cycles (3–12months).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities across regions and industries.
  • Interest in media, AI/data licensing, enterprise partnerships, and emerging technology ecosystems.
  • International business development experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Location & Work Arrangement

On‑site, Washington D.C. office (five days a week with occasional business travel).
