We are seeking experienced Production Security Coordinators to join our growing pool of professionals, supporting our slate of UK and EMEA based film and episodic productions. Our Production Security and Content Protection teams provide oversight, assistance and response for production needs worldwide, including talent security, production security, set location and off-site remote location security, investigative support, travel security and alert monitoring.
In an emergency, the Production Security Coordinator will respond, oversee and direct the production team. They provide operational capabilities and policy or procedural recommendations, liaise with third-party security vendors, law enforcement and emergency services, and formulate and disseminate security-related plans. They act as the central communication point for security incidents across all production activities and locations. The Production Security Coordinator oversees the safety and security of an active production, communicating to crew, talent and production executives, exercising discretion and assertiveness when issues arise. It is important to understand the overall objectives of a production and balance them alongside security objectives. The Coordinator manages security planning to facilitate production needs, minimising risk where possible, and advises production leadership on mitigating security risks. Successful candidates meeting the required criteria may be recommended to productions as freelance Production Security Coordinators. Please note: These roles are contracted directly by individual productions and are not employed by Disney.
Key Responsibilities
- Head up the Security department on your assigned production.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key production contacts (e.g., Production Supervisor, Production Coordinators, and other Department heads).
- Collaborate with the production to develop security plans and policies to mitigate identified risks, including ongoing assessment and improvement of plans in alignment with Disney and industry production security standards.
- Evaluate production locations (film locations, stages, sets, workshops and offices) to establish risk profiles and develop risk-based mitigation measures for security planning.
- Maintain awareness and track uncontrollable risks that could impact a given production (such as severe weather, social unrest, crime, etc.).
- Provide daily briefings and reminders to crew to enforce security compliance.
- Manage security planning in collaboration with the Locations department and security vendors to ensure adequate staffing numbers and quality personnel.
- Connect with local authorities to ensure that all plans and procedures comply with local rules and regulations.
- Support the safety and security of the cast, crew, staff members and intellectual property.
- Conduct social media research for any relevant information referencing the cast or the production.
- Report any building, location or stage security issues for proactive reconciliation.
- Proactively monitor and review the production schedule for changes that will require adjustments or additional security considerations (e.g., off-site sound recordings, locations, production weekend work or studio-based requirements).
- Communicate with the Global Security Production Manager weekly with any updates or concerns.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in private sector security, law enforcement, military or production environments, including management experience of both direct and indirect reports and/or vendors.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects, exercising good judgement to solve unexpected situations in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate resiliency, sound judgement and tact in dealing with business and corporate challenges.
- Strong operational capability with experience executing contingency plans based on threats and exposure to production talent, crew, assets, locations and company brand.
- Working knowledge of physical security systems (including intrusion detection systems, CCTV, alarm monitoring systems, communications devices and other security hardware and software).
- Working knowledge of production security to conduct investigations, assessments and provide recommendations or implement required security measures to protect talent, production locations, facilities and intellectual property.
- Attention to accuracy and ability to work under pressure, consistently meet deadlines and prioritise according to business needs.
- Maintain a valid divers license and guard licence (if/where required by local law).
- First Aid, CPR and AED certification is preferable.
- Strong cross-group collaboration and relationship management skills, including directing and coordinating third-party vendors and partners to achieve deliverables.
- Experience conducting security advances, on-the-ground production security support and developing risk assessments.
