A Senior Software Engineer on the Production Platform Foundations team is a security‑focused cloud engineer responsible for designing, building, and supporting automation and tooling initiatives that enable secure, compliant, self‑service ways for the team and developer base. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and collaborates with the Cloud Account Management (CAM) team.
The Production Platform Foundations team is a horizontal service team providing tools and guidance across the organization for operations in AWS. We act as a productivity multiplier, consulting and operational support to application teams to help them adopt AWS services alongside existing infrastructure. We provide a “cloud‑native” perspective on architecture, infrastructure and deployment strategies.
Responsibilities- Champion and execute best practices and security standards for cloud operations
- Troubleshoot and implement granular least‑privilege IAM permissions for user access and workloads in multi‑tenant AWS accounts
- Understand user access into AWS workloads and troubleshoot issues with SSH and SSM access methods
- Provision, monitor, renew and own SSL certificates across all AWS accounts
- Provide guidance and recommendations to development teams on service design and deployments
- Own initiatives and contribute to future solution designs and planning
- Serve as a go‑to technical resource across levels and cross‑functional teams
- Monitor and respond to inbound issues reported via Jira, email and MS Teams
- 5+ years of AWS experience
- 3+ years of hands‑on AWS Security/IAM administration and policy creation with least privilege as a core principle
- 3+ years of experience with deployment and CI/CD tools – Terraform, GitHub Actions, Spinnaker, Jenkins
- 3+ years of writing software to create tooling and automate routine tasks and deployments
- Experience with Unix/Linux systems
- Practical and personable, succinct communication style and ability to collaborate with engineers
- Familiarity with operational troubleshooting tools and techniques
- AWS Certifications (preferred)
- 2+ years supporting DevOps teams in mid‑to‑large organizations, especially in multitenant environments
- Familiarity with SSL Certificate management
- Familiarity with general and AWS‑specific networking concepts, including VPC, firewalling, routing and DNS
