Job Summary:
About the Role & Team
The Manager Certification and Training develops and drives certification and training related strategies, oversees on-site operations, and provides leadership development for their Cast.
Responsibilities encompass management, maintenance, and improvement of regulatory training and certification for Officers and Crew; leading company cadet program, managing projects, analyzing business metrics, and leading in a complex operating system with multiple functional partners.
This role will require you to be onsite 4 days a week in our London Hammersmith office.
What You Will Do
- Lead, support and develop your team (two HR Specialists and three coordinators)
- Liaison with UK Department for Transport on the company’s commitment to training.
- Responsible for Marine and Engineering Officers Professional Training program.
- Responsible for Marine and Engineering Officers Certificate of Competency Revalidation program.
- Responsible for the company Study Leave plan.
- Partner with shipboard and shore teams and develop reports from multiple company systems (SAP, MAPS, Tack, etc.) to establish training and certification requirements.
- Evaluate future changes in compliance training and certification requirements, (IMO, Bahamas Maritime Authority, USCG, USPH, EPA, Port State Control, etc.) and establish courses in conjunction with the Compliance team.
- Oversee Approval of Training and Assessment in relation to Bahamas Maritime Authority certification. Work with the Fleet Training Manager to verify correct delivery of approved training materials by qualified trainers and assessors.
- Point of contact with Bahamas Maritime Authority on all aspects of certificates of competency and safety training for Officers and crew.
- Maintain company training matrix in Safety Management System.
- Owner of TACK system, system administrator.
- Liaise with IT on technical issues with Fidelio Muster List, TACK, Crew Training Application, Crew Training Attendance, and Mobile Assembly System (MAS) Tablets.
- Liaise with shipboard and shore users of Tack for recommendations of improvements; partner with IT to lead associated Tack upgrade projects.
- Manage Marine and Technical Operations training budget and oversee reporting to Finance.
- Oversee the sourcing and planning of external professional courses to meet mandatory and recommended training requirements for Marine and Technical Officers.
- Overall operational responsibility for all aspects of the student journey from admissions and through their academic studies, including any work placements, and on to graduation.
Manage Disney Cruise Line Cadet Programs:
- In partnership with HR Director, responsible for the overall technical training strategy and development of new talent programs.

- Budget management and reporting with emphasis on continuous increase in value of training ROI (reduce costs, increase quality, retention, and improved outcomes).
- Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Disney Cruise Line Cadet programs.
- Point of contact with Cadet training provider on all aspects of selection, invoicing, and management of Cadets through sponsored program.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong experience in managing maritime certification and training processes, solid knowledge of Maritime Training requirements / International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers.
- Experience working with UK Cadets.
- Understanding of training-related logistics (e.g. course bookings, travel arrangements, invoicing, etc.).
- Prior experience working with External Authorities/Regulatory partners.
- Prior experience in the cruise industry.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
- Excellent Excel and Smartsheet skills.
- Confident in managing a team with a focus on development and workload management.
- Strategic approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Ability to analyze data, construct practical conclusions and implement recommendations to achieve business targets.

- Demonstrable experience in ‘end to end’ project management of harmonization and/or integration projects.
