About the Role & Team
Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology (DEEPT) brings together the Company’s best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams into one global organization. DEEPT is responsible for the P&L management and all distribution, network and engineering operations, sales, advertising, data, and key technology functions worldwide for the Company’s content engines. DEEPT also manages operations of the Company’s streaming services including Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.
We are looking for a Senior Media Systems Engineer to work within our Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution team. Working as an integral contributor in a small team, you will work on supporting a range of applications across our media asset management workflows and content supply chain platform. You will provide technical expertise for project and support related work driven by priorities set by local and international teams.
The systems you will support sit in the critical path for content delivery to a variety of endpoints across multiple regions supporting linear, non‑linear and streaming platforms. Maintaining consistent uptime is a key requirement.
You will also work on the development of in‑house‑built apps in addition to external vendor‑built applications. You will be a point of contact on aspects of application support and projects. You will also create documentation as part of the handover to operational users and support teams.
This role will be based in our London Hammersmith office, 4 days a week, with either a Monday or Friday working from home.

What You Will Do
- You will ensure that the technical infrastructure and systems are maintained to the highest possible standard.
- Manage the implementation of technical change and provide technical expertise as required by the Disney LOB’s within an agreed change control process.
- You will assist with the management of Disney’s cloud infrastructure ensuring our cloud technology stack is compliant with both InfoSec and content security requirements.
- You will work on the creation and development of in‑house tools related to content management workflows under the guidance of senior team members and follow accepted practices of development/deployment pipelines.
- You will work on project deployments including application and infrastructure change, determined by local and international business requirements.
- Work with third party support teams to troubleshoot and resolve technology problems.
- Effectively log, document, and elevate problems and their resolution using core company tools for the management of support tickets.
- You will ensure all documentation detailing the content supply chain and infrastructure is kept accurate and up to date.
- Provide engineering support for hardware and software upgrades and the deployment of new systems and workflows relating to projects and new business.
- Work within the Disney security policies to protect the technical environment and Disney’s intellectual property.
- As part of the support team, complete out of hours maintenance where needed and join the weekend on‑call support rota.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Educated to Degree level in a related Electronic Engineering field, followed by selective theory and practical training courses during employment. Alternatively, you are educated to A Level standard with a demonstrable track record of greater than 5 years in media systems engineering and maintenance.
- Knowledge of systems commonly used in asset management workflows – MAM applications, content flow, automated QC, transcoding, audio tools, subtitling tools, content distribution, cloud infrastructure (S3/EC2), networking.
- Knowledge of Python, JavaScript is preferable.
- Knowledge of AWS Lambda and Step Functions is preferable.
- AWS certification is preferable.
