The Standards Manager for Disney Cruise Line is responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality in medical care provided to guests and crew members. The ideal candidate will be a licensed medical doctor with experience in the development of functional strategy for Quality Assurance, Medical Management and Training. Candidates must have superior communication skills to interact with a team of medical professionals and work directly with multi-disciplinary departments to develop and implement training programs for the shipboard medical teams. Candidates should have ample experience in developing business solutions to support people management. The Standards Manager is the lead in developing and deploying training and audit for DCL. The position will provide broad support to the DCL fleet of shipboard clinical teams and be an integral part of the shoreside medical team. This position provides support to not only the shoreside medical team, but also to the DCL Chief Physician and DX Chief Medical Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with all medical regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess the effectiveness of existing medical protocols, identify gaps, and present solutions for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategic training programs for medical professionals onboard the ships and shore-side.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • Work with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and medical professionals, to ensure respect of industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and reports.
  • Provide overall guidance and support to shipboard medical professionals and shoreside.

Additional Responsibilities will include:

  • Uphold the general safety management responsibilities specified in the Safety Management System for areas of responsibility.
  • Assist as needed in providing 24/7 assistance in medical evacuation arrangements, and one-to-one Crew care assistance services and work collaboratively with the shoreside nursing team for these evacuations.
  • Ensure compliance of policies and procedures in following regulatory guidance on confidentiality and release of records by establishing an auditing process.
  • Manage the shipboard medical equipment inventory including Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) ensuring compliance of calibration and maintenance of each aligns with manufacturer guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years’ experience in emergency medicine, general practice, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in quality assurance, training, and medical management.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, inter-disciplinary and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of international medical regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus.
