An amazing opportunity to join Magical Cruise Company Limited. This is a specialist technical operations role contributing to delivering unforgettable guest experiences and is part of the Management Team responsible for planning and executing dry docks for ships in the company’s fleet.

The key responsibility of the Dry Dock Interiors Technical Manager is to manage the approved dry dock scope of work for the fleet’s technical interiors work undertaken in Hotel areas, focused on stateroom technical services, HVAC, Laundry, recreational water facilities and steel work during dry docking periods. This role will be based in our London Hammersmith office, 4 days a week, with either a Monday or Friday working from home. You will also be required for some occasional international travel within this role.

What You Will Do:

  • Planning and execution of interior technical refurbishment and safety projects during cruise ship dry docks.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work, technical specifications, and project documentation for contractors and vendors.
  • Manage tender processes, evaluate supplier proposals, and support vendor selection and contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate with shipyards, contractors, Disney teams, regulatory bodies, and onboard leadership to deliver approved projects.
  • Ensure Vendor Safety / Technical Interior standard is compatible with Disney quality assurance.
  • Provide technical expertise on interior systems, product specifications, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct research into new ideas, products and upcoming regulatory changes to ensure all Marine & Technical Safety work are future proof.
  • Manage project budgets, labour costs, materials, and timelines to ensure successful delivery within agreed parameters.
  • Oversee consultants, contractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring work meets Disney quality and safety standards.
  • Support purchasing and logistics activities by defining material and equipment requirements for approved projects.
  • Act as a key point of contact for shipboard leadership, providing technical guidance, coordinating resources, and communicating project progress.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews during design, installation, and completion phases, ensuring all work meets technical specifications.
  • Oversee onboard contractor activities during dry dock periods, ensuring safe working practices, regulatory compliance, and successful project completion.
  • Produce regular project updates and reports for senior leadership, tracking progress, risks, budgets, and vendor performance.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven expertise in dry dock management or shipboard hotel/ship services engineering, with a strong focus on interior technical systems and hotel-area refurbishment.
  • Project management experience overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder technical projects, including planning, execution, budget, and schedule management.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and negotiate vendor bids, manage project finances for high-value dry dock projects, and ensure cost-effective delivery without compromising quality.
  • Skilled communicator with excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, able to work effectively in a multicultural, highly diverse environment.
  • Competence with IT tools and Microsoft Office to support planning, reporting, and documentation for technical projects.
  • Ability to travel and work flexibly, including occasional visits to work with ships in different locations and work between US and UK offices.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, interior design, marine technology, or a related technical discipline.
