The predicted salary is between 60000 - 80000 £ per year.

Responsibilities Supports a team of Creature Technical Directors on a show‑to‑show basis.

Sets up the creature TD pipeline per show, including writing tools, hero rigging, and simulation set‑up when applicable.

Runs simulation shots (flesh, hair, muscle, cloth, rigid body) and handles rigging and scripting tasks.

Triages and troubleshoots related to assets across disciplines.

Delegates assignments and acts as the creative, technical, and morale lead for the Creature TD team.

Provides constructive feedback on crew performance, makes recommendations, and resolves issues.

Develops the aesthetic look and ensures technical continuity across shows.

Reviews Creature TD shotwork and provides feedback.

Performs advanced hero‑creature or hard‑surface rigging and enveloping, and sets up and runs cloth, hair, muscle, and rigid‑body simulations.

Collaborates with the CG Supervisor and Production Manager to bid, schedule, and cast shotwork.

Works with global and local heads of departments to establish workflows and best practices for CFX and rigging work.

Troubleshoots creature rigging issues for artists in other disciplines.

Mentors junior artists and newly hired Creature TDs.

Scripts utilities, tools, and plug‑ins.

Meets aesthetic choices on shotwork and estimates bids that influence hiring decisions.

Participates in the hiring process for the Creature team.

Engages in special projects as needed.

Qualifications Proven relevant professional experience in a leadership role on a VFX film or CG animated project and a BA in computer graphics, fine arts, design, photography, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous ILM experience is beneficial.

Extensive background as a Maya rigger and/or a Houdini simulation‑setup artist for advanced hero assets in digital animation, visual effects, games, and commercials.

Experience producing CG characters and creatures for visual media, including corrective sculpting.

Knowledge of anatomy and skinning.

Positive attitude and strong teamwork.

Strong communication skills.

Proficiency with Linux.

Expertise with Maya and Houdini.

Experience with Python scripting.

Basic proficiency in another discipline (Modeling, Texture, TD, or Animation) is a bonus.
