As a Software Engineering Manager, you will focus on leading a team crafting the experiences at the core of our streaming products, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the client as part of our Web Player team. This team is responsible for creating, owning, and supporting our various playback libraries. We support Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and all of our entertainment and streaming properties by building inner-source libraries that deliver video playback!

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and testing at the core of our internal video libraries
- Partner with other engineering teams to craft solutions at scale
- Encourage and drive implementation and utilization of architectural standards
- Promote and support Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban by leading regular ceremonies such as stand-up, retrospectives and sprint planning.
- Mentor engineering leaders and their squad members to help them improve their technical ability and build their profile within and outside of the organization.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, Operations, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions and outcomes.
- Grow an inclusive team culture built around positive intent
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
- Proven understanding of front-end web development technologies and principles
- Video playback experience using modern web technologies and APIs
- Understanding of open source principles and patterns as they pertain to collaborative development
- Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technologies
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Driven and self motivated
- 3 years of experience as a manager of software engineers, 8 years of experience in software engineering
