We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

This role is part of the TechOps, Quality & Systems Engineering (TQSE) team within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences, partnering closely with teams across multiple lines of business—including applications, Disney Signature Experiences, and Disney Cruise Line—to support enterprise-wide initiatives.

The Lead Database Administrator will report to the Sr Manager, Database Operations.

About The Role & Team:

The Lead Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of one or more databases. This role leads the planning, design, and development of database architecture—including structure, documentation, requirements, and protection standards.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, installing, configuring, and supporting the database environment.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance across database operations.
  • Overseeing physical data storage, access, maintenance, and security administration.
  • Overseeing team projects in line with the organization’s objectives.
  • The role is both strategic and hands-on, ensuring database systems are optimized, secure, and aligned with organizational goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure the performance, integrity, and security of one or more databases.
  • Lead planning and development of database architecture, including structure, documentation, requirements, and protection standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of best practices for database access and utilization. Advocate for standards while pushing for smarter, more effective ways of working.
  • Design, install, configure, and support all aspects of the database environment, providing technical leadership and guidance.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and support user needs.
  • Work with leadership team to build scalability and reliability into all aspects of the organization, including through the use of quality monitoring, documentation, process efficiency, and platform capability.
  • Oversee physical data storage design, maintenance, access, and security administration.
  • Manage database access and resource allocation for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
  • Break down strategy into actionable project objectives, ensure timely task completion, and share outcomes and insights across the organization.
  • Significant experience with RDBMS and NoSQL database technologies
  • You will be encouraged to stay up to date with emerging technologies

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of related work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of database management systems
  • Advanced knowledge in configuring, implementing, and supporting databases
  • Advanced knowledge of Disaster Recovery planning and implementation.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, as well as database design methodologies and principles.
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment

Required Education

  • Bachelor\’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
