About the Role & Team

Disney+ is The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) video entertainment service, offering premium branded content alongside a broad general entertainment library, appealing to families and adults alike. The service consists of long form and short form video, includes multiple beloved brands (Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Hulu and ESPN), with an appealing and easy to use interface accessed across multiple platforms (e.g. smart TVs, mobile devices).

The Consumer Strategy & Business Development (CS&BD) team is responsible for Disney’s Direct-To-Consumer (DTC) strategy in EMEA, including driving the growth and long-term evolution of Disney+ in the region, exploring new market entries and developing innovative ways to expand and enhance the Disney+ experience for consumers. It also plays a key role in shaping our DTC content proposition, including building new content partnerships and local content acquisitions for Disney+.

In addition to its DTC responsibilities, this team also leads cross-business projects within Disney’s Entertainment and ESPN segments, optimizing overall performance in the region. Working closely with both EMEA business leads, local executive teams and global US based teams, the CS&BD team provides invaluable support and direction in driving long term growth and delivering global strategic goals. The team’s activities and accomplishments contribute to the growth and success of TWDC in EMEA.

We’re looking for a highly capable Manager of Consumer Strategy & Business Development to help shape the next phase of growth for our DTC business in EMEA. This role calls for someone with a sharp strategic mindset and strong analytical capabilities, who is also able to interface effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior corporate executives to local managers in the field.

This role will be based in our London Hammersmith office, 4 days a week, with either Monday or Friday working from home. This role is a Fixed Term Contract, Parental Cover, 12 Months until September 2027.

What You Will Do

  • Organic Development
    • Work on strategic & financial analysis of growth opportunities for Disney+ in EMEA (e.g., evolution of our commercial offer, introduction of new product features, launching in new markets,…)
    • Review opportunities surfaced/business plans prepared by local Country Managers, assessing their alignment with our strategy and contribution to operational and financial goals.
  • Strategy & Planning
    • Support the preparation of the annual strategic business review and strategic/financial 5 year plans in EMEA, in coordination with all relevant Regional and US/Global stakeholders.
    • Monitor key market trends– e.g., across consumer behaviour and competitors-, extracting meaningful insights that inform key decisions in our business.
  • Partnerships, Licensing and Corporate Development
    • Evaluate potential commercial partnerships, assessing strategic fit and financial & operational impacts – e.g., Collaborations with other digital services, Distribution of Disney+ through wholesale partners (e.g., Pay TV/ Telecom operators, Consumer Brands).
    • Evaluate opportunities to establish strategic partnerships with external content producers (e.g. linear broadcasters) and to license external content and rights for Disney+ (e.g., films and series from external producers, sports rights,…).
    • Collaborate with TWDC’s corporate development team to evaluate potential M&A/JV opportunities related to businesses related to Disney Entertainment and ESPN.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong academic record – top level degree from a leading institution.
  • Experience working in a top tier Management/Strategy consultancy firm within the media sector, and/or experience of working within a media organisation’s central BD/strategy team.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery and an ability to lead, plan and execute projects to an extremely high standard and to demanding deadlines.
  • Experience of working closely with senior management across multiple markets.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to deliver high quality output in a fast paced, complex, entrepreneurial and challenging environment.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and clarity of thinking.
  • Strong relationship building skills and effective use of these to manage several stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver against multiple deadlines.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • A positive “can do will do” attitude.
  • Effective team player.
